The Center for A Course in Miracles conducts weekly, monthly, and quarterly classes at our Center, located at 1151 Harbor Bay Pkwy, Suite 105, Alameda, CA.
Please feel comfortable joining any of our classes at any point in time as the Course's themes are reflected in all thirty-one chapters. Our classes include study, friendly discussion, and questions and answers.
Registration is not required for any of our classes.
Please contact us with any questions you may have.
Our weekly 90-minute study and discussion groups are held every Tuesday and Wednesday. The four weeks following each monthly class are a continuation of Dr. Wapnick's teachings on each successive chapter of A Course in Miracles. This format is more informal as we listen to the audio version of Dr. Wapnick's "Classes on the Text of A Course in Miracles," and invite questions and discussion.
Tuesdays, 11am-12:30pm - Wednesdays, 7-8:30pm
* Please note there will be no weekly class Tuesday, December 25th, nor on Tuesday, January 1st.
On the first Saturday of each month we present Dr. Kenneth Wapnick's DVD Series "Classes on the Text of A Course in Miracles," one chapter per month. (The print version, "Journey Through the Text," is an expanded version of the DVD series.) These presentations are followed by a question and answer period facilitated by the Center's staff.
A Course in Miracles, unlike most linearly structured texts, is symphonically presented, with its themes and principles woven into the teachings throughout, much the same as leitmotivs are woven into the fabric of a musical composition. The Course is thus seen as the perfect integration of form and content, a framework within which the prominent principles and themes in each chapter are presented in succeeding classes.
The overall purpose of these classes is to enhance students' understanding and appreciation of A Course in Miracles, in terms of its magnitude both as a thought system and as a work of art. Such appreciation, it is hoped, will facilitate students' study of the Course, enabling them to learn and practice its teachings in a gently consistent manner as they strive to integrate them into their daily lives. ~ Kenneth Wapnick

Chapter 8 - The Journey Back: "You must have noticed an outstanding characteristic of every end that the ego has accepted as its own. When you have achieved it, it has not satisfied you. This is why the ego is forced to shift ceaselessly from one goal to another, so that you will continue to hope it can yet offer you something" (T-8.VIII.2:5-7).

Chapter 9 - The Acceptance of the Atonement: "When a brother behaves insanely, you can heal him only by perceiving the sanity in him. If you perceive his errors and accept them, you are accepting yours. If you want to give yours over to the Holy Spirit, you must do this with his. Unless this becomes the one way in which you handle all errors, you cannot understand how all errors are undone. How is this different from telling you that what you teach you learn? Your brother is as right as you are, and if you think he is wrong you are condemning yourself" (T-9.III.5:1-6) .

Chapter 10 - The Idols of Sickness: "Nothing beyond yourself can make you fearful or loving, because nothing is beyond you. Time and eternity are both in your mind, and will conflict until you perceive time solely as a means to regain eternity. You cannot do this as long as you believe that anything happening to you is caused by factors outside yourself" (T-10.in.1:1-3).
Each quarter we present Dr. Wapnick's DVD workshop, "The Unconscious Mind." This one-day workshop will present the Course's theology and metaphysical framework, focusing on the nature of the split mind as the dreamer of the dream, the dream being comprised of both the ego thought system and the world that is its effect. Thus the world "is the outside picture of an inward condition," reflecting our mind's choice to identify with either the ego or the Holy Spirit. Seen through Christ's vision, the world becomes a classroom in which we learn to see sameness instead of differences, the healed perception that is the meaning of joining. In this way, the decision-making mind is restored to our awareness so that we can choose again and awaken from the dream.
